Classrooms response pads are simple "clickers" that allow for student feedback to be collected in real time, which can then be displayed or saved for later. [IDC]


Response pads are designed to improve the interactions that take place within a classroom environment. The instructor with technology that supports student engagement, integrating seamlessly with many active and cooperative learning techniques. You now have the ability to poll your students for their thoughts and opinions. Turn around is almost instantaneous, allowing you to quickly canvas the entire class. Comprehension, interest, and engagement can easily be measured and improved using this technology. Response Pads consists of two components: the individual transmitters used by each student and a centralized classroom receiver that captures student responses Instructor to Student response pads brings interactivity and in some cases,honesty to a meeting by allowing the users to answer multiple questions via keypad . By Single click the results are collected and can be displayed on the screen or saved for reporting and analysis.


The System components in Response Pads are

Clicker This is used to record the student responses (this has a serial number)

Receiver This is installed computer (USB Plug-in)

Software This is installed on the computer (Turning technologies)

The free downloaded software used (Turning technologies) Second a Usb receiver that is pluged into the computer that is used in the classroom

Individual response pads each for the students with downloaded sofware from Turning Technologies should be provided by the instructor

A Classroom session can set up track individual responses and get graded

Starting the first day in the classroom

First you need to login into the class gathering for the use of Remote in the class

Getting Introduced Instructor to Student

Learning how to use the Response pads by the students and getting used to them

The instructor starts the class work session and the response network is shown

Clickers are an efficient way to have students reports by their responses. Performance is calculated immediately upon ending the class by generating a report, such as the Response Report this is a quick way to give students the feedback they need

[edit] How To's

First time users must contact IDC (Instructional Design Centre) to get a good picture of Response Pads uses and how to get to know the functions of the clickers

For the first time your using the response pads you need to login into the class session for the use of Remote in the class The Tutor starts the class work session and the response network is shown . Press and Hold the G0 button for couple of seconds if the Orange light flases than release the button and ,wait for LED get turn off and try again by pressing the GO button .

After 5 seconds ,release the GO button and the LED should flash green and red .While the LED is flashing press the 2 digit number .If you don't know your class 2 digit channel number you should ask you instructor and try it again

When you enter the 2 digit the LED turns green and will be active green for about 2-3 seconds

If the LED turns orange after pressing the second digit ,press the Go button momentarily.Then the LED should turn green.Press any numeric button on the remote and your box in the response grid should flash blue.

If the box does not respond,and the LED flashes orange,repeat the process very carefully.If the box does not respond and the LED flashes green when you press a button on a clicker,then your serial number has not been correctly registered on the network sevice.

In this mode instructor will present you with a some questions or by other means .Respond appropriately . If a response is out of range for the question (if the question's maximum choice was E and you tried F) the program will not record your respose and your box on the grid will flash red in a galnce.Once the instructor is done with the question or the timer runs out a response window will be displayed with a histogram showing how many students responded with each choice , and the instructor will choose the correct answer . When the instructor ends the quiz, your responses will be uploaded into the Network service
